Watercolour is my most frequently used medium in my exploration of colour and tone.  Though I work in many different mediums it is watercolour that allows me the freedom and speed I need when I am in that creative mode.

My involvement in art started as a child with a simple pencil and paper.  I began by drawing from my imagination and slowly developed an interest in the world around me.  From the beginning the process of transforming a simple piece of paper into a bird, a hand, a portrait struck me as magical.  Over the years, this magical process has had its way with me, allowing me to see everything in new and wonderful ways.  Drawing and painting fills me with a sense of inner peace and integrity, and has proven a most amenable vehicle for translating the world around me into beautiful pictures.

While drawing and painting I am immersed in colours and the various shapes and tones my brush makes. Though I work quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques, my intuition is the undisputed project manager.

Currently the fluid nature of watercolours allows me freedom to paint those subjects that matter most to me – animals and people.  Watercolour is also the platform from which I understand other mediums as it allows me to witness the significance of brush strokes and how they can influence the perception of the viewer thus directing their understanding of the subjects I paint.

What ever medium I use, my work focuses on the colours and tones that are contained in the subjects I paint.  My works are celebrations of colour and tone and often times meant to be meditative.
